VOLUNTARY MAGNET RECALL
We are committed to the safety and health of students as an integral part of their science education. In light of this we are encouraging schools to take advantage of the magnet recall and replacement offer that has been announced by United Scientific Supplies, our supplier of these magnets.
Selected magnets have been recalled by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) due to excessive lead levels in the surface coatings on them. The recalled magnets are steel horseshoe magnets available in multiple sizes from many educational distributors including Frey Scientific – our part numbers and descriptions are noted below.

United Scientific Supplies will replace all recalled magnets that were purchased from us. If you have not already received information about this recall, please contact Frey Scientific ’s customer service to learn where to send your recalled magnets at no cost to your school or follow the instructions noted below.
We have removed the recalled magnets from our inventory and are shipping only safe versions of the identified products. None of the other magnets in our product line have officially been recalled by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) at this time.

Frey Scientific Sponsors Space Day Design Challenges
Mansfield, Ohio, April 12, 2004 - Frey Scientific, a division of School Specialty, Inc. recently partnered with and participated in the Space Day 2004 Design Challenges. Frey Scientific and St. Peter's Elementary School in Mansfield, Ohio worked together to develop a Design Challenge team.
The Design Challenges are unique, online learning initiatives that encourage students to employ mathematical and scientific concepts; initiate independent research; promote inquiry and "real-life" problem-solving; and connect directly with national standards in science, mathematics, technology and language arts. Over the past four years, approximately 20,000 students across North America have participated in the Design Challenges.
Lisa Givens, 5th grade teacher at St. Peters and her class designed an Extreme Explorer that was created to travel on the moon Ganymede, a satellite to Jupiter. The explorer was energized by solar panels to work during the day and batteries for power at night. This creation included a camera to photograph findings and a mechanical arm to collect samples. The students were very proud of their results and Frey Scientific was thrilled to be a part of such an exciting learning experience.
Frey Scientific strives to help science teachers succeed and their students achieve by offering over 15,000 K-12 products, many of which are correlated to the National Science Education Standards. Frey Scientific Sponsors NSTA's Annual Presidents Banquet with special guest, Dr. Ruth Westheimer
Mansfield, Ohio, April 8, 2004 - Frey Scientific was the proud sponsor of the 2004 Annual National Science Teacher Association President's Banquet featuring the widely know psychosexual therapist, lecturer, and author Dr. Ruth Westheimer.
Dr. Ruth Westheimer entered the Georgia World Congress Center on Saturday, April 3 and created an instant buzz as she made her way around the show floor escorted by associates from Frey Scientific, a division of School Specialty, Inc. She then made her way into the Frey Scientific booth and spent an hour and a half signing autographs and taking pictures with the NSTA attendees. From there Dr. Ruth was whisked away to get ready for her keynote speech on Sexual Education in the science classroom at the President's Annual Banquet sponsored by Frey Scientific. Dr. Ruth graciously answered audience questions as she concluded her extremely successful speech.
Dr. Ruth Westheimer is a psychosexual therapist who helped to pioneer the field of media psychology with her radio program, Sexually Speaking. It began in September of 1980 as a fifteen minute, taped show that aired Sundays after midnight on WYNY-FM (NBC) in New York. One year later it became a live, one-hour show airing at 10 PM on which Dr. Ruth, as she became known, answered call-in questions from listeners. Soon it became part of a communications network to distribute Dr. Westheimer's expertise which includes television, books, newspapers, games, home video, computer software and a page on the Worldwide Web.
