STRAIGHT AND LOOP MARBLE TRACKS
The elegant Straight Marble Track allows one meter of straight line travel. The straight track allows students to explore motion and Newton’s Laws. The end swivels to catch the marble or to launch it. The CPO photogates provide precise speed and acceleration measurements. Repeatability is typically within 0.0002 seconds (0.1% or better). A non-slip rubber track ensures an even rolling surface for marbles.
Students discover there is a minimum speed the marble must have to make it around the loop. The speed corresponds to a balance between gravity and centripetal forces. A series of engaging investigations on circular motion builds deep student understanding, both conceptual and quantitative. Loop Marble Track has a diameter of 20 cm.
